Come see what research can be done in the Library section of the GHS Center. Bring your family information and we will help you pass it on to future generations. This session will give you the tools you need to complete your search.

World Voyagers

Phil Shelton and Amy Wood will tell their true tale of a veterinarian, a Renaissance man and Stewart the cat. Many of us dream of sailing around the world someday, but few of us ever will. Phil and Amy dreamed the dream, built the boat with their own hands and actually did it. Come hear the story of their adventures during a three year trip around the globe.

GHS Annual Meeting

1-4 PM    Sunday     June 22

We'll start with refreshments and videos from our collections.

Wrapping up the event will be the popular history-based auction to raise money for the endowment fund.                         

The Research Library will be open before and after the event.

Dahlov Ipcar

GHS will host a very special event. Dahlov Ipcar will read from and sign copies of the book The Little Fisherman, her 1945 collaborative literary effort with Margaret Wise Brown. The event is being held in celebration of Islandport Press announcement that this wonderful example of children's literature will be reprinted.

Public Access Lands and Trails of Georgetown

There are many public lands and trails in Georgetown. To date no one has put together a comprehensive listing and map of such places.

On this evening, Bob Gravino will moderate a panel of speakers from the Lower Kennebec Regional Land Trust, The Nature Conservancy, The Josephine Newman Sanctuary, Reid State Park and the Georgetown Conservation Commission who will help us know more about these treasures in Georgetown

The Boatbuilders of Georgetown

This island has a rich heritage of building beautiful, durable and useful watercraft. Be with us on this evening as we discover the boat builders past and present, who have added so much to this long tradition.

Wildlife of Georgetown

Join Maine State Warden, Doug Kulis as he tells us of his encounters with wildlife found on the island.
